Last week was long and eventful. This week I will try to play catch up but before I get into all of that, I took some time to look around some more for inspirational spaces. Moving day is almost here and I’m very excited about my little studio nook so I keep looking for ideas to make my space very special. There are definitely spaces that are crammed with stuff and while it might be functional to some, I think I definitely want to keep my space organized most of the time and in order to do that, less is more, for me anyway.
So take a look at this space. I absolutely love how they have used every single little nook and cranny but the overall look is not crammed. There’s an organized and designed look to this space that I like very much. I also like that they picked a color scheme and stuck with it. I’m not a fan of pink but when it’s paired with lime green it definitely works for me. I absolutely love those patterned chairs as well, they add a nice bit of color and design without having to add wall paper, which I hate and can’t do anyway as we’re still renting. Overall, I think this is a great look and I love that the desk itself is nice and clear, ready to be worked on!
This is another one I really like. This one has a lot of color on the wall despite the fact that the walls are white and that’s because of the hanging patterned paper. I had wanted to do that some time ago and got as far as buying the paper but never got around to hanging it. I think this time I’ll make sure it’s high on my to do list as I really like how it looks. Here you see a color scheme again and I think that’s what makes for better looking rooms, a planned scheme that is worked throughout the entire space, including the accessories on the desk. I also really like the chair in this space and I like the addition of the plants in both of the spaces. These are just things that I’m noticing in the spaces that I really like. So we’re up to three points:
1. One color scheme throughout.
2. Patterns to complement the color scheme in some way.
This last one is really just wall organization/decor. I’ve always wanted to do something like this but because we’ve always rented an apartment we don’t ever want to mess with the walls too much but maybe this time around we’ll do a little more.
The calendar here is great for obvious reasons and the chalk board would be really nice to keep important notes visible. I can even foresee a couple of my lists pinned up there already. I’m very much a list person and I have more than one at a time so it would be nice to have a spot to keep them all together and check things off, after all, that is the best part of a list, checking something off!
The bottom portion of this wall is something I’m not sure would make it into our house. While it looks very nice in this photo, I think it has serious potential to look very cluttered in real life. I think that’s one of the keys in organization, knowing what you will be able to keep up with and I think this is definitely something that would get quite messy in our house. If I did any part of this wall, it would only be the top I’d say, although I do like the mail slots on the bottom.
I think if I had a stylist to make sure my house looked ready for a shoot all the time I could pull this off, till then, I’ll have to pick and choose carefully what’ll make it in. All in all however, I did notice a couple of patterns in these photos that I definitely want to try out. What about you, what changes do you want to make or have you made in your studio space or around the home?
